Day 1 - Friday, February 11th, 2022
Most of today is left open to allow everyone on the tour ample time to arrive safely, and make their way to the hotel, located in the neighborhood of Barrio Amon (known as the Bohemian district). Your guides will already be at the hotel, likely enjoying a local artisan beer. Check into rooms and begin to explore San Jose City. At 5:30pm, meet the group and guides over drinks in the hotel lounge followed by our first dinner at a local favorite, Cafe Mundo. Remainder of night free to explore local culture and night life.
Day 2 - Tuesday, February 11th, 2020
Enjoy early breakfast at the hotel before departing the city at 6AM, as we go right into the natural beauty of this richly biodiverse country. Picking us up from the hotel is our private party bus, which will serve as our magic carpet ride for the remainder of the trip.
After a beautiful drive through Braulio Carillo National Park, we arrive to one of the world’s most scenic rivers to white-water-raft, Rio Pacuare! These class 3-5 rapids will carry us nearly 4-5 hours down to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica where we rejoin with our bus at the headquarters of the rafting company. We'll then drive a few more hours to our destination, Puerto Viejo de Limon.
Upon arriving, check into our beachfront hotel and enjoy some free time relaxing after a long and adventurous day. This is a free night for all to explore local food individually or in small groups. For those looking to boogie down, this is a funky little town for that!
Day 3 - Wednesday, February 12th, 2020
Wake up to the sound of crashing waves and Howler Monkeys as we start day three. Breakfast served at the hotel with a free morning to enjoy this very special place! Just before noon, gather again as a group to experience The Jaguar Rescue Center- a famous rehabilitation center for wild animals in the region. It’s a great organization that makes a profoundly positive impact, and we love to get up close and personal with monkeys, sloths, wild cats, and many other local animal friends!
The second half of the day is spent chilling at Punta Uva Beach: one of our local hidden gems / favorite spots. Return to hotel for showers and a pre-party before heading out as a group for a special dinner with our Boy Stash, a master in fusion Caribbean Cuisine. Remainder of the night will be yours to enjoy Puerto Viejo night life.
Day 4 - Thursday, February 13th, 2020
We start the day by driving 30 minutes south to the town of Manzanillo, where the road goes no further. Local nature guides will split our group into 2 smaller groups as each set out on a beautiful jungle-coastline hike to Punta Mona. This scenic trail zig-zags in and out of dense primary and secondary rainforest and then back onto the beach making it a hike to remember! All luggage will be boated out ahead of the group.
Arrive to Punta Mona in-time for lunch, local fruits, and a much deserved swim. Check into cabins followed by an orientation tour so as to get aquatinted with the eco-formula that makes Punta Mona such a special place. Group dinner at the sound of the conch and remainder of night free to relish in the magic of this jungle biosphere.
Days 5 and 6 - Friday, February 14th, 2020 - Saturday, February 15th, 2020
The next two days naturally unfold as the Punta Mona staff and guides curate hands-on activities of all sorts including permaculture farm tours, medicinal plant walks, yoga, cacao ceremony, kayaking, and much more.
Nights are filled with laughter, music, connection, and epic beach bond-fires. These 3 days and nights at Punta Mona are like nothing else, and no matter where we all come from, it’s easy to appreciate pure nature, new friends, and perfect harmony.
Day 7 - Sunday, February 16th, 2020
Enjoy one final breakfast on the beach at Punta Mona as the morning sun rises out of the Caribbean; at least for those that wake up early with the jungle sounds ;). Around 7AM, we'll depart via boat taxis and shift our momentum towards Envision Festival 2020 and the Pacific Coast!
We reunite with our our private bus in Manzanillo, and the first half of the day is dedicated to hanging out and enjoying Puerto Viejo. Special visit to our chocolate friends at Caribbeans, which after 3 days off-grid, is usually a group favorite. Lunch is free for all to explore many local options in town. By mid-day, embark on a drive back up the Central Valley where we stay the night in San Jose; same hotel as day 1, which is why some prefer to safely store festival gear and/or camping gear at start hotel.
Returning to San Jose around sunset, we'll settle into the hotel for a relaxing night with included group dinner at the hotel.
Day 8 - Monday, February 17th, 2020
After a nice breakfast at the hotel, we'll say goodbye to the capital city and make our way to San Mateo-Orotina, where we are scheduled to visit and explore two very different planned eco-communities: La Eco-Villa and Tacotal. After getting inspired by innovative eco-design and enjoying a refreshing swim in the Machuca River, we'll hit the road for the final stretch of the drive to the Pacific Beach-Town of Manuel Antonio.
At this point in our journey, we’ll have officially made it from Coast to Coast, and now it's time for seeing explosive sunsets, as compared to sunrises in Caribbean!
Group dinner at a local favorite, El Avion, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, and is home to some of the worlds finest sunsets. Party continues into the night as the town fills with other groups making their way to Envision 2020!
Day 9 - Tuesday, February 18th, 2020
Eat breakfast at the hotel and have the first half of your day FREE to explore! Hang poolside at the hotel, catch a quick ride to the beaches down the road, or explore local shops and eateries.
Gather as a group at mid-day for a sunset catamaran boating excursion that offers snorkeling, dolphin watching, and an open bar party with lunch onboard. It's a great time and we have had ongoing luck in syncing up with pods of dolphins!
We will then have our final Group dinner at another amazing restaurant upon the cliff side, with equally impressive views of the coast during sunset. The rest of your night is open for all to have just as much fun as possible! Local talent often plays live music at the hotel where the party rocks the night away.
Day 10 - Wednesday, February 19th, 2020
Wake up at your leisure and enjoy one final breakfast as a group. After check-out at around 10AM, we board our bus and make the final drive south for a couple of hours where we pass by the Envision festival grounds and make our way to Uvita Waterfalls.
After several hours of relaxing and enjoying the many pools at the falls, we'll make the short drive back to Envision Festival where we are scheduled to enter at 3PM. Most of the festival will be arriving the next day, so take your Early-Bird Entrance and find that perfect camping spot next to your new friends!
